The Wines:
Sparkling: Oriol Rossell “Cava Brut Nature Rosat” (Spain) NV
The Rossell family has been making wine in Spain for over 500 years. These bubbles soar like soulful synthesizer strings and the rich color feels like a joyful sunset over the majestic mountains of Catalonia.

Orange: Little Trouble "Champi Vineyard Chardonnay" (California) 2023
Produced in the Redwood Valley by Jennifer Reichardt and former lab technician Sara Morgenstern who also directs operations for Ruth Lewandowski Wines (a club favorite). The skins are left on for 24 hours before transferring to neutral barrels. Refined and complex with bright citrus notes of Meyer lemon and herbal chartreuse.

Chillable Red: Domaine Leonine "Bottle Neck" (France) 2022
50/50 Syrah and Grenache from 25 year old vines in Languedoc. Bottled unfiltered with no sulfur added. Dark and juicy with spice and earth, but still light like an aeroplane. Nice when chilled with something grilled.

Wee “You Can Fly On My Aeroplane” (Owl / Numero) 1977
It’s all about love and spirits above. Entirely written and arranged by Ohio native Norman Whiteside, Wee’s lone LP satisfies the holy grail criteria of being both incredibly rare and incredibly good. With original copies trading hands for upwards of $1500, and numerous hip-hop sample credits to boot - I’m not “Alone” in thinking this is one of the best and most unique soul records ever recorded. Sexy, synthy and smooth - it’s perfect for a chilly day under a blanket with a glass of chardonnay or a sparkling rosé.
